Once you have made that long journey into Cape Coast you may as well make the most of what is around. If your intention was to come and see and experience Elimina Castle then give yourself at least 45 mins to enjoy the tour then another 45mins to walk around yourself and do some soul searching. If you still have the energy why not turn your Cape Coast visit into a day trip and visit the Kakum National Park which is just half an hours drive from Cape Coast.

The Kakum National Park is a semi-deciduous rainforest which occupies 234 square miles of fresh green rain forest an alternative to all the red dust and the busy city atmosphere. Its a large oasis in the the tropical heat. If you have ever watched “I am a celebrity get me out of here” and wanted to experience a high rope walk over a rain forest then you have to visit the Kakum National Park and do the canopy walk. Once you start this canopy walk the only sounds you will hear are the birdcalls  as you elevated to 40metres above the forest floor. If you suffer from vertigo this may not be the experience for you. Along the walk there are several viewing platforms for you to catch you breath.
