The Armed Forces Museum in Kumasi, provides visitors with a unique opportunity to explore the military history and heritage of the Ghana, established in 1953. Even though the Ghanaian military has not waged war on any country the military has been successful as peacemakers supporting other African countries in times of conflict. This museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the contributions, sacrifices, and achievements of Ghana’s armed forces.

At the Armed Forces Museum in Kumasi you will see and be able to explore the following

  1. Military Artifacts, the museum houses a wide range of military artifacts, including weapons, uniforms, medals, and equipment used by the Ghanaian armed forces throughout its history. With some of these artifacts may date back to the colonial period, through the struggle for independence, and up to modern times.
  2. Historical Exhibits showcasing regional conflicts and peacekeeping missions, and the role of the Ghana’s military
  3. Ghana’s Military Leaders, this is probably one of the most engaging parts of the museum. As the the museum features displays and information about notable Ghanaian military leaders, including generals and officers who have made significant contributions to the armed forces and the nation as a whole.
  4. The role of the military in Independence and Nation-Building here like the exhibits of leader visitors can learn how soldiers where mobilized in times of struggle in coups 
  5. Military equipment, aircraft and artillery vehicles used and once used by the Ghana military. These exhibits are housed outdoors. Some have not stood the test of time and weather. but still worth a look.
