Homowo is a harvest festival celebrated by the Ga people. The Ga people celebrate Homowo in the remembrance of the famine that once happened in their history in precolonial Ghana.[1]
The festival is organized to urge the gods to furnish their food stores with endless food supplies. The elders and chiefs pour libations, dot the city with a traditional meal called kpokpoi as a means to drive away streaks of famine, and pray for a bountiful harvest.

Kpokpoi is made from steamed and fermented corn meal, palm nut soup and smoked fish
How long does the Homowo festival last for and where?
This is a month long festival that takes place in and around Accra there are a number of different events, showcases, music and food events that take up the whole of August in Accra you can not miss them.
