Ghana Events – Beach Eco Games Garawa Olympics
1st of November 2025 is the first Saturday of the month representing Ghana’s National Sanitation Day. Please join us for this special Volunteer & Supporters Appreciation Day.A focus on the environmental impact will be highlighted through awareness modules incorporated throughout a day of fun field day olympics. Our SOCIETY volunteers and supporters should also enjoy the coastline just as much as they rehabilitate the ecosystems. Our beaches are meant for enjoyment. Instead we face unnecessary debris and waste pollution from all sectors of industry. One of our initiatives is to recover, rehabilitate and introduce sustainable practices of properly managing waste removal. Including the process of segregation as well as recycling efforts.Challenges we currently face are waste debris that is as deep as 2 feet in some sections. Another huge problem is the removal of textiles tangled at the shore line along with tons of plastic pollution waste. Some of the debris is returned to the land side from the ocean after being improperly deposed of by local communities. While others may have floated from thousands miles away. What is now needed is to excavate the rubbish to recover & rehabilitate the beach and rebalance the marine ecosystem. Following that the goal is to implement a consistent sustainable waste management system by way of public waste bins, a regular clean up schedule, utilizing waste segregation resources to encourage multi layered approach of achieving environmental security for the community. 🧤🧹🗑️♻️🇬🇭Have you signed up yet for the next Community Beach Cleanup Day?Sugar Sand Society appreciates your efforts of volunteering your time and energy.
