Ghana has some of the most diverse and interesting coast lines in West Africa. With many coastal areas delivering a range of coastal resorts and beaches where you can bathe in waters from the sea or river. Example along the Volta river where the Atlantic Ocean meets the river is a place called Ada Foah. This town and area is well known for its Palm lined beaches nice crystal sand and some really exclusive resorts. So its time to venture out further into Ghana and explore and see what you can find.
Does Accra have any good beaches and beach resorts?
In the Accra or the greater Accra region there are 6 beaches beaches Labadi Beach, Laboma, Coco Beach, Sakumono, Kokrobite and Bojo. In terms of which ones are best or good this comes down to what you are looking for. Lababi Beach is probably the most popular and most easily accessible beach in Accra due to its location. If we were to pick a second and third we would recommend Kokrobite then Bojo if you are looking for quieter beaches with less of the mass tourist crowd.
Beach Guide: Most beaches in Accra are free which means there can be prone to a lot of litter however, some of the quieter beaches are managed by resorts such as Bojo so there is a small charge to get on the beach. But once there they are very exceptionally clean.
Can you swim in the sea in Ghana and what is it like?
Yes, you can swim in the sea in Ghana many of the beaches face the Atlantic Ocean, so if you know your oceans you will know that this is not the warmest of waters. Also with the rip currents in the Gulf of Guinea swimmers need to take notice of the tide signs and life guard flags. The Atlantic Ocean can be temperamental. However, With the blazing sun on your back the Atlantic can be a nice place to bathe.
