This Ghanaian and Nigerian collaboration is a belly full of laughs, brought to you by Apstairs International Media, in collaboration with Kornerstonez Production and Crenshaw Limited, and directed by Yaw Skyface.
The plot
What would you do if you just met the love of your life and, within a few short months, got engaged and set to be married? For Mark, played by Adjetey Anang, he has only known Maya, played by Venita Akpofure, for four months. But he is in love and wants to ensure he is making the right choices. Rather than spend the next few weeks questioning and haranguing his bride-to-be, he decides to find out more about her from her previous boyfriends.
This has to be a comedy, as in the real world, this is a bold move requiring humility to get home truths from ex-partners. The film starts well, with each ex-boyfriend sharing where they failed and what they learned, enlightening Mark on how to make things work. The story centers around the dynamics between the male characters as they recount their ups and downs while enjoying a weekend trip.
The Groomsmen stars Venita Akpofure as Maya, Adjetey Anang as Mark, Jeffrey Nortey as Darius, James Gardiner as John, Kojo Delong as Kofi, and Baaj Adebule as Dave.
The film delves into various relationship issues with a comedic lens, presenting everything stylishly under the direction of Yaw Skyface. Without giving too much away, there’s a twist as everything may not be what it seems.
