Jamestown Lighthouse – A Historic Beacon with Panoramic Views
Standing tall since the 1930s, the Jamestown Lighthouse is one of Accra’s most iconic landmarks. Painted in bold red and white stripes, this 28-metre colonial-era structure replaced an earlier lighthouse built in 1871. While it no longer guides ships into the harbor, it continues to draw visitors eager to soak in the area’s rich history and enjoy breathtaking views of the Jamestown coastline.

Entrance Fee
There’s no formal ticket office or set entry fee. However, a local guide may offer to take you up the lighthouse for a small fee, usually between 10–20 GHC. It’s best to agree on a price before you begin any tour.

The lighthouse generally opens between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM on weekdays and slightly later on Saturdays. Since hours can vary depending on the presence of local guides, visiting during the daytime is recommended.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit is in the early morning or late afternoon when the light is perfect for photos and the weather is cooler. Sunset visits offer particularly beautiful views over the Atlantic and across the rooftops of Jamestown.
