Ghana Events – 2026 First National Bank Accra Marathon
The First National Bank Accra Marathon is Ghana’s premier road running event, bringing together elite athletes, recreational runners, corporate teams and fitness enthusiasts from across the country and beyond. Formerly known as the Accra Milo Marathon, the event traces its roots to the Dansoman Keep Fit Club and has grown into one of Ghana’s most enduring and celebrated sporting traditions.The marathon is organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the Ghana Education Service and Ghana Athletics, promoting health, fitness and sporting excellence while discovering and nurturing athletic talent.Participants can choose from four race categories:• Rising Stars Race (10 km) – A dedicated 10-kilometre race designed to encourage emerging young athletes and the next generation of distance runners.• Open Race (10 km) – A 10-kilometre race open to runners of all experience levels.• Premier Race (42.2 km) – The official marathon distance for experienced and competitive runners.• International Participants (42.2 km) – The marathon category for runners travelling from outside Ghana.Whether you’re chasing a personal best, competing for honours or taking on a new fitness challenge, the First National Bank Accra Marathon offers an unforgettable race experience in the heart of Accra.
