At the height of tension within the 1956 elections, two ambitious detectives are bent on using Sika, a naive singer of an all girl band, to frustrate the independence movement in the Gold Coast. When she runs afoul of the law, the detectives seize this opportunity to incite trouble for The Widow: the owner of the all girl-band, The Gold Coast Darlings – a vengeful woman with a score to settle with Gold Coast’s political elites. This event consist of a listening of the audio drama, original soundtracks from the show, and a dialogue with cast and crew on the sound of pre-colonial Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah’s relationship with music, and the evolution of Highlife music.Directed by Joewackle J.
