The UBORA Awards is a student-organised event hosted annually to celebrate members of the Ashesi student body, faculty, staff and even alumni, for the strides they have made in their lives and community. The night is dedicated to celebrating distinction and appreciating the brilliance of individuals in the Ashesi community.
“Ubora” is a Swahili word that connotes Excellence. The Ubora Awards embodies and strives to reflect the concept of excellence throughout every facet of the event. This event is organised by a committee under the Ashesi Student Council (ASC), called the UBORA Planning Committee.
Over the years, this event has been the highlight of the fall semester for many, especially the graduating class of that academic year. The awards event has been a great way to recognize and acknowledge the efforts of students, faculty, and staff and to motivate the whole community to continue to reach for excellence in their daily work.
This year, we celebrate the 12th edition of the Awards Night with the theme: “Enchanted Soirée”: An Evening of Elegance and Intrigue. This theme presents a night where the enigmatic world of a masquerade intertwines with the alluring charm of a starlit night. Guests are cordially invited to a captivating evening, dedicated to honouring the exceptional talents, remarkable skills, and unwavering commitment of the Ashesi University community. Join us for an unforgettable night where you allow elegance to be your guiding star and intrigue to be your compass.
The primary goal of this year’s Ubora is to rekindle the fire of community spirit in the Ashesi community by celebrating, appreciating, and recognising the efforts of members of this community who strive to make the community thrive.
