CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival since its inception in 2011 now attracts over 100,000 people over the month long event that takes place every August in Accra. The main event which is open to all the public to experience usually takes place in the final weeks of August.

CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival is a week long festival that provides a platform the Ghana’s creatives, artist, musicians producers of immersive content to all converge on James Town and bring their creations to life. Over 200 Ghana-based and international artists take part in the CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival every August. Each year’s festival has a unique theme which binds everything together. Who created The CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival?

Created by ACCRA [dot] ALT. Who are an organisation that works to bring together creatives and artists their CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival provides the perfect platform the Ghana’s creatives, artist, musicians producers of immersive content to all converge in one place, James Town to bring their creations to life.  The festival is all about African content and the people behind it. The vision of creators of Chale Wote is to cultivate a wider audience for the arts in West Africa by breaking creative boundaries and using art as a viable form to rejuvenate public spaces. The CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival challenges both artists and community-­based audiences to connect through art.

Where is the CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival held?

The CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival is held in the James Town district in Accra every August for a week. The whole area becomes a massive stage and canvas for African art and content. With street processions, pop up theatres and events. Most events are free and like a massive art gallery its about how you the audience interprets it.

How can you get involved with The CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival
