Bia National Park
The Bia National Park covers a total area of 305.62km² and is located in the Western Region of Ghana and it is the only the Biosphere Reserve in the country. The park has Sixty-two species of mammals which include 10 primates amongst which are the Black and White Colobus, the Oilve Colobus, Red Colobus monkeys and chimpanzees. In this park you can also find The forest elephant and the highly threatened Bongo which is the largest forest Antelope.
These distinct animals have a unique white stripes running through their brown coats. There are also over 160 species of birds that have been recorded in the park which include the internationally endangered white-breasted guinea fowl.
As with any natural reserve, it is vital to practice responsible tourism and adhere to park rules and guidelines to minimize the impact on the fragile ecosystems.
